"The Comedy" - A New Film Staring Tim

Came across this article by random...looks like it's going to be pretty good considering Tim is the Star of it.

and I didn't care for you,
we would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain,
occasionally glancing up through the rain
wondering which of the buggers to blame
and watching for pigs on the wing.

Sounds like a goof and a spoof to me, might not even exist. Sounds like a dead on parody of all those depressing indie "comedies" like Greenberg and Garden State.

http://collider.com/the-comedy-poster-s ... 12/136758/

Indifferent even to the prospects of inheriting his father’s estate, Swanson has been insulated his whole life by the bubble of privilege. He and his hipster friends live in a tepid social paradise, a.k.a. Williamsburg, where their good fortune breeds indifference and recreational cruelty. They pacify their discontent with games of mock sincerity and irreverence, as though humor itself were dying and had nothing left to do but turn on itself. Testing limits to break through their numbness, they act out like spoiled children—with ironic beards and beer bellies.

Rick Alverson unleashes a camouflaged assault on contemporary culture veiled in a gorgeously crafted and humorous veneer. As taboos are broken, audience members are forced to question their boundaries and whether they should be laughing with it, at it, or not at all. A scathing look at the white male on the verge of collapse, The Comedy provokes and disorients; it’s a carefully rendered cautionary fable for the autumn of America.

I absolutely think Tim has what it takes to branch out into different genres. The description of his role sounds like what Tom Peters would eventually fall into if he wasn't so doggedly optomistic and didn't have a deep well of ideas.

I would like to see screenshots of the characters Eric and Neil Hamburger play.
Rest in peace, Richard Dunn

The Film is definitely real, I saw someone post tickets to a screening of it on facespacecookbook

Yea, reading the reviews for this, it looks really interesting and I def wanna see it!

I guess a boatload of people walked out of its premiere at sundance, and it's being called one of the most controversial films at sundance this year! I'm not even really 100% sure what kind of movie it is or anything, I just know that I wanna see it!

I love watching people walk out of theaters because the movie is too 'over-the-top' or controversial. It always makes me XD
I've seen it happen at multiple different movies, plenty of times.

Ah, it must have been both then. The Comedy supposedly had the most amount of walkouts than any other movie at sundance this year.

Here is a link from one of Tim's tweets. If you scroll down he even responds in the comments!

I'll never understand walkouts. You're there, the movie is playing, you've put aside the time to see the movie, you're there in your seat, why not stay and watch the whole thing? If you hate it, fine. You can say you've seen the whole thing and can justify just why you hated it.

People who huff and puff and walk out on a movie just want to be seen by the rest of the audience. They're the sorts of people who want to yell "Look at me! I hate this and I'm leaving! You're an idiot for staying, but I'm not! See me? I'm leaving!"

I saw the documentary Grizzly Man, and a couple walked out an HOUR AND A HALF into the movie. Because of one scene of bears fighting. It was no worse than national geographic footage of a gazelle being eaten. But these two dinguses, who already invested an hour and a half of their time into the movie, got up and left because they didn't like five seconds of footage of two bears fighting. Hell, the rest of the movie showed little to no graphic footage. The director even stated that he would not show footage or audio of a bear attack which the doc was based around.

Anyway: long post short, people who walk out of movies are danguses and I want to see this movie now that I know it's real. :-[

A lot of people walk out of movies because they can't handle what is taking place on screen. It is too much for their mind to comprehend, it offends them, or they just can't handle graphic depictions of things.

When I saw Human Centipede 2 at a midnight showing, mind you, about 15-20 people walked out within the first 30-45 min. A big group of about 10 all walked out at the same time too. These people actually made a conscious decision to go to a midnight screening of a movie that was outright banned in Britian, but yet they still walked out of it because they couldn't handle the scenes. I'm not quite sure what they thought they were getting themselves into. If people want to loose their money and waste their time, they are free too.

There was also a massive walkout of about 15-20 people when I saw Hobo With A Shotgun. And when I saw Final Destination 5, about 5 people walked out, 2 of them where girls that couldn't have been older than 18-19, walked out in the first 10 min, then came back 20 min in, then walked out again at about 45 min and never returned!

My favorite is when people walk out of movies and then demand a refund! Since I work at a theatre, I see this happen every quite often. Just last month a husband/wife duo in their 40's walked out of Drive, because, and I quote "It's filth and vile!" "There's no way your making me sit through that!" Like it's the theaters fault that you're too dopey to watch a trailer, read a review, or do any kind of basic research on the movie that you are going to see. It's usually middle-aged women that feel priviledged that demand their money back.

Any suggestions for other movies that critique hipster culture like this?
