TGGTM 5th Anniversary - Let's not miss it!

Postby Son of Joy » Thu May 21, 2009 12:55 pm

So it's not for a bit, November 14th, but this year on that date will mark the 5th anniversary of T&E's first television creation, Tom Goes to the Mayor (aired November 14, 2004)!

Any ideas for ways to celebrate? Maybe a contest? Fan art? Sending a cake to T&E in California?

:D

cake or sending something else to them in cali sounds like a good idea
If you didn't care what happened to me,
and I didn't care for you,
we would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain,
occasionally glancing up through the rain
wondering which of the buggers to blame
and watching for pigs on the wing.

I love this idea.

The mods have been talking about having a contest but we're not motivated enough to plan one. If you guys have any ideas, we'd love to hear them.

Check it: http://www.tgttm.com/jeffertonidol/vote.html

Also, I think a really cool thing would be a forum gift. If we can do it before awesomecon and someone could give it to them there that might be cool. Or we could send it to them in November via CPS (Cinco Parcel Service)

Also, Stickied! (not that it would be pushed down in this category)

Just thought of this: A T+E anthem that we all sing into mics on our comps and send to them. Any Composers heres? Maybe we could just sing Jefferson Alive.

I agree that cake or a giant cookie would be best. Remember, it's an office and office folks LOVE snacks. No joke foods like Papa Johns. I checked the calendar and saw that November 14th is on a Wednesday. Hump-days are PERFECT for snacks! :D

My thought was that I could set up a paypal donation account and each of you chippies could chippy in $1-$2 towards a cake or something. Then I'd place to order and post the receipt so that you know I'm not taking any money for myself.

We could do a St. Patriot's day cake. It's been a while since I've seen that episode, but I'm pretty sure it has a cake in it.

I want a Toodle Day wedding cake with fake peanut butter dog biscuits on it or something. But the St. Patriot's day cake is a good idea too. :)

Friends! Wonderful ideas! Keep em coming, we'll figure out a wonderful gift by November. One thing the cake, or an attached note MUST say is something like:
"Happy 5 Years Tom! Love, TGGTM.COM"

I propose that to go along with a gift, someone gets a card and we send it around the usa for all of the members of the forum to sign.

We should try to get Amber in on this even though she's not around anymore, we all owe a lot to her for helping our little community.

Okay, lets start getting serious about this.

The consensus is that we want to give them a cake, I think (we just need to decide). SOJ can you get the PP donation thing set up for this? (How much are cakes anyway?).

Do we want to do like a graphic sort of deal on top? For my grandma's 70th birthday, my grandpa had a picture of her in a robe put on the cake. Not sure what you guys want, but I think even a kind message of our gratitude would be a nice gesture.

I was also thinking it might be nice to do some sort of webpage that has some sort of e-tribute to tgttm from all of us, since that's a bit easier to do than my loopy card idea. I think some of you are graphic designers so any ideas are welcome (not just from graphic designers, but we do want it to look nice). I program sites, so I could take care of any backend / html / css stuff as long as I have a psd or a bunch of the suitable image files or something like that to work with.
