Review and Discuss Tom Goes to the Mayor - Pepperoni

Postby Son of Joy » Wed Feb 11, 2009 11:35 am

Now that T&EAS,GJ! Season 2 is out on DVD, we have more live Tom Goes to the Mayor! Almost enough to fill half an episode!

What was intended for the Awesome Show episode pepperoni and ultimately was cut are two segments that follow Tom as he attempts to sell the Mayor on animated gifs, but as usual is interrupted with the Mayor's agenda. This time the Mayor wants to order a pizza to utilize a stick of pepperoni that Tom brought in (Joy put him on a all salt diet). After much trial and error, the Mayor figures out how to combine pizza and pepperoni.

Surprisingly, the segments cut contain the only pepperoni that appears in the episode that itself is titled "Pepperoni"

What are your opinions on the segments?

Yeah, I thought it was funny too, that only now do we find out why the episode is called Pepperoni. The reference to pepperoni was lost in those deleted scenes.

I thought it was really interesting seeing a TGTTM "episode" acted out, and not in the choppy animation style that the cartoon was in. I love that set they had, that was really cool that it was real and not completely a green-screen.

I found it a lot creepier in real life. I don't think it works as well as live action, but it was still really funny. My favorite part was how tim kept putting his hands on his face in the usual Tom pose. It was interesting how they kept posing in still positions to try to capture the feeling of the show, but I couldn't help but feel that they were making fun of it a little.

I was pissed that they cut the scenes! Live-action Tom is a great idea, and I thought Pepperoni was great. I would have rather had this storyline (maybe even expanded) than Breadheads.

I miss the gross foods from Tom. And the fact that Jefferton never had sliced pepperoni for pizza toppings is odd and worth an entire episode. It's a much better segment than the Roy Teppert segment that made it on the show. And it's 100x better than Breadheads.
Hey Pep-Pep, can we have a barbeque?
Thank you...Don't forget soda.
