Well, let's toast to Season 3! What did you think? I'm actually so very proud of this season. Larry and Jim and Derrick being my favorites. More Awesomeness coming in 09. I'm talking stage AND screen!!!
Q:
What vehicle(s) are you and Tim currently driving?
A:
I drive a 1972 BMW 75/5 motorcycle.
Q:
Are we going to see more of Doug in the future?
A:
As in on the show? Yes. And he's gonna open for our next tour as well. Ton's of Doug coming up.
Q:
Are there any plans for a TimandEric.com volume 2 dvd?
A: Yes! We are working on it right now. Tons of amazing extras as well, including the 2008 Awesome Tour. Should be out for sale early Jan 09.
Q:
When did you discover that, by making yourself have a double chin, your head turns into a perfect square?
A:
I never thought about the square thing. I remember being in college and being slightly embarrassed as I was chunking up. But now I fully embrace my D chin! Girls love it btw.
Q:
In the Awesome Show episode "Hamburger", stock music plays that is best known for its use in Curb Your Enthusiasm , but has been used in various places. Did the rights to the music have to be purchased from somewhere, or is it public domain? I haven't been able to find out anywhere, and would really like to use the music for a project.
A:
It's royalty free stuff. Our editors found it on some music library.
Q:
Hey Eric, are you familiar with the musician Graham Smith? I know Doug's good friends with him, and he used your studio for his "Long Time No Sleep" music video, so I figured you might know him. What do you think of his music?
A:
I do know Graham and I'm a fan of his work!
Q:
1. How did you guys end up working with Harout Pamboukjian?Did he make any comments on his appearance?(His armenian fanbase must still be confused )
2. You said that Eric Fensler gave the idea of the lazy Horse sketch. Did he make any other contributions on the show?
A:
1. Our casting guy found him. We had no idea how huge he is! He was just happy to be silly on camera. I love people that don't take themselves too seriously.
2. He had an idea that spiraled into the horror segment of the dream sequence. He has made MANY great contributions to the show. He's a funny guy.
Q:
are you guys going to do a tour after season three?
if so, you better come to asheville, NC again.
what kind of keyboards do you have? i noticed in that episode with dunngeons that you and tim both had microKORGs...do you own any others?
A:
Yes! And of course!
I own a wurlitzer 200a. But I used to own tons of synths and elec pianos in my music days.
Q:
you have performers who make multiple appearances, like Pierre, DH Hart, Richard Dunn, etc. But do you plan to have more female guest stars or performers (aside from Maria Balmford that one time)?
A:
Amy Sedaris wrote us and asked to be on the show. So YES! Cross your fingers.
Q:
Q. What are the top 5 most played songs in your iTunes/other music program library at the moment?
Q. Have you seen the movie Stepbrothers yet?
Q. Do you think you'll ever make a trip to Atlantic Canada to perform live, in the future?
A:
That's a great question. Lemme check...
Ok. This is from my laptop. Not exactly representative of what I listen on my ipod in my car. Which is my primary listening zone.
1. 23- Blonde Rehead
2. Dr. Strangeluv- Blonde Redhead
3. Courtship Dating- Crystal Castles
4. Love and Caring- Crystal Castles
5. Chromakey Dreamcoat- Boards of Canada
Yes.
We want to. Maybe in 09!
Q:
Do you find that a lot of the small-time actors you hire have a similar taste in comedy to yourself? Rons Stark and Starks seem to have that appreciation, and from the show's progression it seems like Rich is more comfortable with the humor, though I can't tell if his awkward stares and lines are intentional or "totally Rich". Are there any minor actors you hired who you truly feel like you see eye-to-eye with comedically?
A:
We have never met a "small- time" actor that shares our comedic sensibilities. But that's what makes our show! It's the combination of confusion and sincerity that makes it work. When they try to be funny, it doesn't work. But when they are themselves, magic sometimes happens!
Q - When is the Season 2 DVD Released? (With the long awaited Gibbons & Friendy)
A: Jan 09
Q - When will Nite Live return and who do you think Dunn it? Was it you?
A: Nite Live late Oct!
Q - Are you ever gonna come to the UK? Scotland specifically?
A: Yes. We want to. We got invited to All Tomorrows Parties, but couldn't do it this year.
Q - Do you think Steven And Stephen, Nite Live or Not Live will make it to DVD?
A: Doubtful.
Q - If a movie is to be made, what would it be about and who'd be in it?
A: Awesome Movie. You already know the cast!
Q - What's next for the late, great Casey Tatum? Will he return in Season 3? Is he too predictable?
A: I guess you know the answer to that by now.
Q - Funday Friends.....What is it all about!?
A: Ha! I have a fun day with my BFF's from philly whenever I return. We eat good foods, watch movies, and get massages!
Q1) My Dad doesn't really like the show, he doesn't really get the genius behind it; so do you think the show mostly appeals to younger people as it is sort of a groundbreaking form of comedy? Or do you think the fan age is evenly spread?
A: Good question. I know people of all ages that enjoy the show. My Dad says he thinks the show is funny, but I think he's just being a good Dad.
Q3) Do any of your guests/actors on taeasgj ever think what you ask them to do is too weird / are they ever uncomfortable? for example to lady on "here she comes" looks very confused as to what you and tim are doing to her.
A:
Only a few times. People in Hollywood are willing and able to do just about anything. And we've been lucky with amazing casting!
Q:
Eric, I was wondering what is the name of the sunglasses that Casey's brother wears.
A:
I don't know the brand name. They are the granny glasses that you can wear over your eyeglasses!
Q:
No actually, will we be seeing any more Ron Austar (aka Pierre)? If so, could we expect any more weird How-to (or parent dance party) videos?
A:
Yes! Season 4 has a huge Austar song. It's more of a PSA this time round.
Q:
what do you think it is that makes a great many of your fans so zealous? Other than that you guys are totally awesome.
A:
It's a small club. And our fans stick together and fight to the death. And that's why we love them dearly. I think people know how special this show is and embrace it for that fact. And when people bash the show, our fans take it personally. We are super lucky to have this stuff air on actual TV!
Q:
Do you feel that Spaghett wasn't really the strongest skit in season 2 and that is why you built on it in season 3?
A:
I don't think it was the strongest, but it won the popular vote. It was a very conventional setup, but Tim's character took it to a good and ridiculous place that made it an Awesome show bit. Our Spagett the movie bit was in response to people loving it so much. We don't ever want to get like SNL with repetition, so we killed it right then and there! Same with Casey. RIP.
Q:
1.)I find it really hard to find people who share the same sense of humor as I do which is satirical in a really idiotic way and watching your show gives me pure bliss. Have you ever felt alone or discouraged about what you were doing. How were your high school years
A:
I had a small group of friends that shared the same humor. We made several movies and bands together. So I guess I was lucky. I knew at a pretty young age that I liked very different stuff than my classmates. But luckily I had some close buds that I could vent and share silly things with.
Q:
i heard through my sources that john c. reilly was actually inebriated during the for your wine bits of the season two finale. is this true? if so, was it ridiculously amazing?? and did he brule???
A:
He did drink some wine!
Q:
Which episode of season 3 would you deem strongest, and which would you say is weakest
A:
I think Jim and Derrick was the strongest episode. We really went for it and I'm so very proud of it. I think Muscles for Bones was the weakest only because we had to air the short version. The 30 min version is much stronger.
Q:
Now that Jeff Goldblum has joined "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", are there any plans for Tim and yourself to make guest appearances?
A:
Of course not.
Q:
The Ben Folds music video was incredible, perfect for both his style and you guys. Will you two be working with him again in the future?
A:
We'd like to. Those guys are super cool bros.
Q:
what does TMIWIP mean from the quilting with will episode?
A:
Too much information ..... Shit! I can't remember.
Q:
Have you ever got bored while doing your show?
If so, what do you guys do if you get bored?
A:
Are you kidding? Does it look like we are bored? Making this show is pretty fun and entertaining.
Q:
My question is, can you either confirm or deny that you and Tim and Absolutely Productions will pair up in some form, with the delightful Peter & Robert from BBC2's Look Around You? I know you're fans of each others' shows, and the fact that Adult Swim has acquired their series broadcast rights has me really excited at the possibility.
A:
We have been talking about a project for some time now. Hopefully soon! I'll keep you informed.
That's if for now. Thank you for your questions!
